Swissport increases Saudi Arabian presence

The company has added Al-Qassim to its growing Middle East network

Swissport International’s Middle Eastern network has expanded further after they announced the addition of Al-Qassim.

The first flight by Pakistan International Airlines was handled successfully last week at Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz International Airport (ELQ) in Central Saudi Arabia.

Gerold Tumulka, CEO of Swissport Middle East, said: “We are delighted to provide our quality aviation services to Pakistan International Airlines and are honoured by their trust in us. Al-Qassim is our fourth airport in Saudi Arabia and further grows Swissport’s position as a high-quality service provider on the Arabian Peninsula.”

Swissport offers passenger and ramp services to the Pakistani flag carrier. One weekly flight to Multan and Islamabad will be overseen by the handling company and operated by an Airbus 320 aircraft.

Located 350km north of Riyadh, Prince Naif Abdulaziz International is in one of the three agricultural areas and production facilities in Saudi Arabia. This means many workers from South Asia will benefit from the new direct flights.

It was recorded that in 2019, more than two million passengers were served at Al-Qassim.

Since 2016, Swissport has been present in Saudi Arabia after beginning operations in Riyadh and Jeddah. From there, the company has developed its business into an established organisation.
