Flights will begin from March 2021 with more to be added by Easter
Rex has announced that it is launching a new service between Sydney and Melbourne beginning March 1, 2021.
Tickets for the new service go on sale on December 2.
“Finally, Australians can look forward to not only a safe and affordable airline, but one they can count on in the long-term,” said John Sharp, Rex Deputy Chairman, “Rex’s origins date back almost 70 years, making it Australia’s second oldest surviving carrier.
“Over the past 20 years Rex has been the most reliable passenger carrier in Australia and our domestic services will naturally enjoy this superior reliability at affordable prices.”
Sharp also believes that the airline will offer a “premium full service” but with fares that could match a budget carrier.
The airline is starting off with nine Sydney-to-Melbourne return services a day. “By Easter, 2 additional 737s will be added to expand our domestic network to Brisbane and other capital cities,” added the Deputy Chairman added. “If all things go as planned, we hope to grow our fleet to 8-10 by the end of 2021.”
The airline is launching 100,000 promotional fares for the service in celebration of the new domestic fleet.
